Dubai Airports are Operating Normally Again.

Following the most intense rains the United Arab Emirates has seen in seventy-five years, Dubai Airports is demonstrating impressive progress in resuming regular operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths reported that DXB has resumed its regular flight schedule and is already running about 1,400 flight movements daily, ahead of its recovery timetable, as of yesterday.

Our workforce, logistics, and facilities are back up and running normally now that all of the routes inside and outside the airport are entirely free of water buildup. Restoring the airport to operation is no easy task. In addition, 115 planes were diverted, and 2,155 flights were canceled. We had to revise schedules, increase staffing, and care for everything in close collaboration with our airline partners and service suppliers.

The consistent commitment of our Dubai Airports staff, airline partners, governmental organizations, business partners, and service partners never ceases to astound me. We’ve never encountered such a difficult adverse weather situation, and our staff and partners put in a lot of overtime to keep things running smoothly and serve our visitors.

He continued that thirty-one aircraft were rerouted to Dubai World Central (DWC). By April 19th, every passenger at the airport had received the necessary assistance to carry out their remaining travel arrangements.

Throughout the disruption, guest welfare was the top priority. Despite some initial difficulties with supply transportation owing to road closures near DXB and DWC, over 75,000 meal packs were delivered to both airports.
