Dubai: A fast sports car crashes off a bridge near a mall, killing two people.

According to Dubai Police, two persons perished in a horrifying vehicle accident on Wednesday involving a fast sports car that plunged from a bridge close to Etihad Mall in Al Khawaneej.

Director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday at 11:55 p.m. He added that the deceased were a man and a woman, although he did not specify their nationality.

Al Mazrouei stated: “The driver exceeded the speed limit.” The concrete barrier dropped from the bridge to the street below when the vehicle skidded and slammed with the curb as it got closer to the curve in the bridge.

“Due to the excessive speed, the car continued in the opposite direction on the lower street until it came to rest on the median strip, where it caught fire, resulting in the deaths of the driver and a woman accompanying him,” he stated.

While traffic patrols controlled traffic, secured the accident site and aided in the arrival of ambulances and rescue vehicles, police and rescue personnel were sent to the area right away.
