Dubai: A Dh4 Million Luxury Automobile Plate and a Dh3.2 Million "Lucky" Mobile Number were Auctioned Off for Charity.

The car with license plate V39 was auctioned in Dubai on Sunday, selling for an incredible Dh4 million, or almost $1.1 million, at a charity event.

Ten elegant car number plates and twenty-one unique mobile phone numbers from Du and Etisalat, the UAE’s vice president and prime minister and the ruler of Dubai, were put up for sale to raise money for the Dh1 billion Mothers’ Endowment campaign.

However, the most thrilling and competitive bidding was for the special mobile numbers with the 7 series, which are said to be lucky numbers representing the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

There was intense rivalry among the competitors for the exclusive mobile number 058-7777777, which ended up being the highest-earning unique number up for auction at Dh3.2 million. The bidding for this exclusive number surged from Dh100,000 to Dh3 million in a matter of seconds. Similar competition was seen among the bidders for other numbers mainly consisting of seven digits. A staggering Dh2.875 million was also paid for the unique number 054-5555555.
