Driver fined Dh2,000 for hitting pedestrians who were jaywalking.

After two jaywalkers were hurt in an accident in Dubai, a motorist and the other person were punished. The Asian pedestrians were fined for entering the area from outside of permitted zones, while the Arab driver was found guilty by the Dubai Traffic Court of breaking traffic laws. Each of the pedestrians and the driver received a Dh400 fine.

The court determined that the accident was caused by the driver’s disregard for other drivers and traffic laws. He acknowledged that when the other two passed in front of the car, he did not notice them. The pedestrians’ injuries were confirmed by medical reports.

The two Asian people were also held accountable by the court for their prior activities that contributed to the accident. The defendants were found guilty of disobeying traffic laws and etiquette by crossing the street from an undesignated pedestrian area. Due to their actions, the driver’s vehicle sustained damage in addition to being struck by the car.
