Dewa plans to Increase the Number of 'EV Green Charger' Stations in Dubai's key Locations.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Parkin, a provider of paid public parking facilities in Dubai, to increase the number of EV “Green Charger” stations in several prime locations managed by Parkin.

The move is part of Dewa’s ongoing efforts to improve sustainability, promote environmentally friendly electric vehicles (EVs) use, and improve the customer experience by making vehicle charging more convenient.

Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at Dewa, and Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, signed the MoU in the presence of Dewa’s MD and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, and Parkin’s Chairman, Ahmed Bahrozyan.

Al Tayer emphasised the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and green mobility, citing the country’s pioneering initiatives to foster a sustainable economy. He emphasised Dewa’s EV Green Charger initiative, which aligns with national policies and strategies to promote electric vehicles and reduce carbon emissions.

He added that there are over 30,000 electric vehicles in Dubai by April 2024, and a growing number of participants in the EV Green Charger programme, surpassing 15,000 by March 2024, highlighting Dubai’s success in promoting sustainable.
