Deadly Bombings in Gaza Camp Raise Death Toll, Families Mourn

The situation in Gaza is very serious right now. On Sunday, officials said that 45 people have died because of bombings in a place where many people live closely together, called Al Maghazi camp. This number went up from an earlier count of 30 in that Gaza Camp.

The Israeli military hasn’t said if they were the ones who bombed this camp, but they are trying to find out if their soldiers were there when the bombs fell on Saturday night.

The group that runs Gaza, Hamas, says that Israel bombed houses where people live and that many of the people who died were women and children.

A man named Mohammed Alaloul, who reports news for a Turkish company, said that a bomb hit the house next to his and caused his own house to fall apart. He said his two young sons and his brother died because of this, and other family members got hurt.

Israel has said they want to stop Hamas because of a very bad attack on October 7 that hurt a lot of people near Gaza’s border. They say this attack killed over 1,400 people, and many were just regular people, not soldiers. They also say that more than 240 people were taken away during this attack.

The health officials in Gaza say that thousands of people, including a lot of women and children, have died because of the bombings and fighting on the ground.

The top military person in Israel, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, went to see the soldiers in Gaza on Saturday. They have surrounded Gaza City, which is a big place with a lot of people living in it, to the north of Al Maghazi.

The person in charge of Israel’s defense, Yoav Gallant, said their soldiers are fighting very hard in Gaza. He mentioned that they are moving in from different directions and have gone into places where people live.
