The 12-day celebration of the opening of the historic BAPS Hindu Mandir kicked off with a sacred ceremony led by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
Abu Mureikha, situated off the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Sheikh Zayed highway, has been buzzing with excitement since Mahant Swami Maharaj’s arrival on Monday, February 5. Over the next two days, devotees had the opportunity to participate in the ‘Guruhari Darshan’, where prayers were offered by Mahant Swami Maharaj alongside sadhus, and devotees had the chance to meet him. This visit marks the commencement of a three-week stay for the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir and other Vedic ceremonies and programs until February 21.
The ‘Festival of Harmony’ began on Saturday with the ‘Bhakti Tula’ ceremony, uniting hundreds of devotees and well-wishers in expressing their devotion to Lord Swaminarayan, the founder of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
On Sunday, a grand ‘Yagna for Harmony’, a Vedic ritual, is scheduled to take place outside the temple premises. This ceremony, known as the ‘Swaminarayan Vishwa Samvadita Mahayagna’, will witness the participation of numerous spiritual individuals and couples, accompanied by the chanting of mantras around a sacred fire.
Wednesday will witness the ‘Murti Pratishtha’ ceremony, where Mahant Swami Maharaj will consecrate the deities. Later in the day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to officially inaugurate the Middle East’s first traditional Hindu stone temple.
Following the inauguration, the festival will continue with various themes until February 21, including harmony, civilization, peace, gratitude, values, and inspiration.
The BAPS management has advised the public to plan visits to the temple from March onwards. Entry will be granted upon prior registration through the official website or the ‘Festival of Harmony’ app.
