Actor Ayushmann Khurrana recently shared a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Tahira, on World Cancer Day. In a touching post, he shared photos that depicted Tahira’s courageous battle against the disease.
In the caption, Ayushmann affectionately recalled how he first met Tahira at Panjab University over samosas and tea. He also wished her the best for her debut at the @spokenfest. He expressed his deep admiration for her indomitable spirit and heart, concluding with the hashtag #WorldCancerDay.
Tahira’s cancer journey began in 2018 when she bravely revealed her diagnosis on her Instagram account. She shared her thoughts on receiving a special acknowledgment, referring to it as her “badge of honor.” Her intention behind sharing this news was to spread love and gratitude for life’s blessings.
Tahira shared an image that may be unsettling to some, featuring drains that became her “dumbbells” during her recovery period. She disclosed her diagnosis of DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) in her right breast, explaining that it was a pre-cancerous stage with high-grade malignant cells confined to a specific area. She humorously mentioned that she now resembled a half-Indian version of Angelina Jolie, given her unique experience.
She added a light-hearted comment about wanting to compete with the Kardashians and Pamela Anderson but ended up with a portion of her back tissue in her breast. Despite the challenges, Tahira embraced her obstacle as a new chapter in her life. She emphasized the importance of respecting life’s unpredictability, having faith, and summoning the courage to be the protagonist in one’s life story. She celebrated the resilience of the human spirit, highlighting its ability to endure and rebound.
Ayushmann and Tahira, who tied the knot in 2008, are proud parents of two children, a son named Virajveer and a daughter named Varushka.
