Abu Dhabi has hosted the opening of the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the Middle East.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the organization’s current spiritual leader.
Modi was present at the Vedic ritual conducted by Mahant Swami Maharaj, who had overseen the temple’s consecration earlier in the morning.
Pujya Brahmaviharidas Swami, the BAPS Hindu Mandir project leader, and Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami welcomed Modi when he arrived at the famous temple, which occupies 27 acres of land. Modi extended a deep embrace to Brahmaviharidas Swami, expressing his gratitude for completing the historic temple in the capital.
Modi went to a 3D center that provides a fully comprehensive 12-minute experience on the history and vision of the temple. Upon his first visit to the temple since the original announcement in 2015, the Indian Prime Minister was astonished by the intricate stonework and took time to appreciate this architectural marvel.
