RAMADAN KAREEM

MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM

ramadan-kareem
“It’s time to look into oneself.”

In essence, the holy month of Ramadan is a celebration of the Quran’s revelation, which is described as a “Guide and Mercy for those who do good” (31:3 Holy Quran).

The holy month of Ramadan is a time for abstinence from worldly pleasures, overcoming desires, and pure intentions. This month is blessed with the purpose of purifying our hearts from the sins we have committed.

Ramadan personifies God’s mercy as we reflect on ourselves, repent for our sins, review our paths, and renew our lives with new revelations. Ramadan celebrates God’s mercy, which leads us toward the path of good and virtue, protecting our souls from evil and vice.

This is a process of self-revelation, where we explore our inner selves until we feel the presence of conscience and the soul. Thus, Ramadan is an art of internal engineering that illuminates our paths and ideals with the noblest of intentions.

During this month, individuals show gratitude to God by abstaining from vices. This “Path to Good” awakens their inner conscience and develops a deep awareness of God’s presence and the path of righteousness in life. This feeling of God’s presence leads the soul to follow the path of righteousness and do what is right, even in the most challenging situations.

As the soul enters into a state of gratitude and submission to God, a realization surfaces, and individuals understand that life is a gift from God to reflect His mercy, compassion, love, generosity, and blessings to the community. By surrendering themselves to God through this serene connection, individuals can teach their souls the process of self-restraint and self-control, restraining themselves from dominant evils such as ego, craving for power and fame, the desire for influence, pride, anger, revenge, lying, stealing, cheating, sexual immorality, and other such vices.

Humility and resilience are essential qualities that this divine connection and revelation seek to develop within an individual. The act of fasting provides wealthy members of society with the opportunity to experience the pain and suffering that millions of people endure every day without access to food, water, and other necessities. Fasting bridges the gap between the rich and poor, the privileged and impoverished, and the fulfilled and needy. The serene experience of being in a state of equality, inclusion, and tolerance among all individuals inspires compassion and mercy, manifested by the generosity of wealth and time to help those in need.

In a nutshell, the dynamic institution of Ramadan serves to discipline our souls and moral behaviour while developing sympathy for the less fortunate. It is a multifunctional and comprehensive tool for change in various spheres of our lives, including social and economic, intellectual and humanitarian, spiritual and physical, private and public, personal and shared, and inner and outer – all in one!

With all the quintessence of goodness shared and imbibed, rejuvenated individuals become embodiments of refinement and enlightenment, ready to welcome the new year as Eid approaches, serving their society and community with grace.

LET US HAVE A PEACEFUL EID MUBARAK,
