Airstrikes in Central Gaza Claimed 12 Lives

Two airstrikes on Friday in central Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least twelve people. Among the dead were four women and two children.

As Israel’s military expanded its offensive in the south and took control of the whole length of Gaza’s border with Egypt, Palestinians in the border city of Rafah have reported intense fighting in recent days. Over a million Palestinians have fled Rafah as a result of fighting; the majority of them had already been displaced earlier in the conflict. According to the UN, they are currently fleeing to makeshift tent camps and other areas devastated by conflict, where they are without food, water, shelter, and other necessities for survival.

In the meantime, the Houthi rebels in Yemen reported on Friday that at least 16 people had been killed and 42 injured in coordinated British-American airstrikes. That is the greatest number of casualties from the several rounds of strikes that were conducted in response to the rebels’ attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, demanding that Israel put an end to the conflict in Gaza.

The Health Ministry, which does not differentiate between combatants and civilians, reports that more than 36,000 Palestinians have died in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
