Air India Begins Offering the First Airbus A350 Route From Delhi to Dubai

The newly acquired Airbus A350-900 aircraft of India’s flag carrier, Air India, made its international debut on Thursday when it began operating flights on the Delhi-Dubai route.

Passengers on an Air India flight from Delhi to Dubai can purchase tickets to see the A350 in its new livery. The airline announced in a statement that the service went live on May 1. As a result, Air India is now the only airline flying the A350 between Dubai and India. Pre-departure ceremonies marked the start of the flights at the airports in Delhi and Dubai, where guests received souvenirs from the A350.

The Indian airline, which the Tata Group purchased in 2022, presently offers 72 weekly flights from five Indian cities, including 32 from Delhi, to Dubai.

Last year, Air India finalized an order for 220 new Boeing jets and 250 Airbus planes, totaling $70 billion at list prices. To reclaim market share, Tata has been making billion-dollar new investments to modernize Air India’s fleet, enhance its offerings, and broaden its domestic and international network.

With three classes and a range of 15,000 kilometers, the Airbus A350-900 is a long-range aircraft that can carry 300–350 passengers.

According to the airline, Air India’s A350 aircraft has 264 seats in Economy, 24 in a dedicated Premium Economy cabin with additional legroom and other amenities, and 28 private suites with full-flat beds in Business.
