Air Europa strengthens global connectivity with strategic alliances in the Gulf

The Spanish airline consolidates its international presence with daily flights between Madrid and Abu Dhabi, as part of its expanded partnership with Etihad Airways.

Air Europa continues to reinforce its role as a key player in international aviation by strengthening its strategic partnerships in the Gulf region.

Since June 24, the airline has been operating a daily flight between Madrid-Barajas and Abu Dhabi, under a wet lease agreement with Etihad Airways using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

This milestone marks a new chapter in Air Europa’s global expansion, enhancing its footprint in the Middle East and consolidating Madrid as a major intercontinental hub.

The operation is part of a broader cooperation plan with Etihad Airways, which includes expanded codeshare agreements, integration of frequent flyer programs, and coordinated services aimed at offering passengers greater connectivity and premium travel experiences.

A strategy with international vision

The Gulf region has become one of the most dynamic centers in global aviation. By deepening its partnership with Etihad Airways, Air Europa not only gains access to more destinations across Asia and Africa but also strengthens its competitiveness against other major European carriers.

“Air Europa’s commitment is to keep expanding its global reach through strong and sustainable alliances,” said Javier Hidalgo, a driving force behind the company’s international strategy.

“The Gulf region represents a unique opportunity to connect Spain and Europe more efficiently with Asia and other key markets.”

Spain as a bridge between continents

Through this agreement, Madrid consolidates its role as a strategic gateway between Europe and the Middle East, offering travelers faster connections and a superior service experience.

At the same time, the strengthened partnership with Etihad boosts tourism and economic ties between Spain and the United Arab Emirates, generating benefits across multiple sectors.

Commitment to sustainability and innovation

The cooperation with Etihad aligns with Air Europa’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and modernization. The airline continues to upgrade its fleet with next-generation aircraft and expand digital services, in line with international aviation targets to reduce carbon emissions.

Looking ahead

With this alliance, Air Europa takes another step forward in its ambition to become a leading European airline with a global vision, capable of connecting continents, cultures, and opportunities for the future of aviation.
