The Dubai Misdemeanor Court fined two Arabs Dhs 248 for stealing and sentenced them to one month in jail, which would be followed by deportation. When one of the defendants diverted the attention of a pharmacy employee while the other seized the medication and concealed it in his backpack, the defendants stole seven boxes of Panadol from the establishment. However, as soon as the employee found out what they had done, they left.
The incident, which happened in the Dubai neighborhood of Al Nahda, started last November when a worker told the authorities that the drugstore she worked for had been broken into. According to the employee, the defendants went into the pharmacy and asked to speak with someone about an antifungal prescription. They were then given many options for medication.
She claimed to have seen one of the defendants purposefully try to divert her attention while the other was taking pills out of his pocket and placing them in a canvas bag. The offenders ran away when she confronted them with what she had witnessed, and she told the police about the incident, she continued.
