Abu Dhabi prohibits price increases for auto repairs and spare components following damage from rain.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has commended the efforts and cooperation of businesses involved in the repair, maintenance, and sale of auto spare parts in a circular to institutions that protect people and property.

“We call on all economic establishments engaged in repairing, maintaining, and selling spare parts for cars and vehicles to refrain from raising the prices of services and spare parts of all kinds in light of the damage caused to certain cars and vehicles by the recent unstable weather conditions,” ADDED said.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development said that it would go on field trips to make sure that the costs were not higher than they had been in the past and that it would take appropriate action if any institution raised the cost of services or auto components.

In accordance with a circular sent to the businesses by the ADDED, noncompliance with the prohibition will result in penalties as listed in the schedule of fines. This will not affect the application of any more severe penalty specified in the Consumer Protection Law and its rules.
If this happens more than once, there will be fines of Dhs 3,000, Dhs 6,000, Dhs 8,000, and Dhs 10,000, plus the establishment’s closure.
