Namibia President Hage Geingob

UAE leaders have expressed their condolences on the passing of Namibia’s President Hage Geingob. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Chairman of the Presidential Court, have all conveyed their sympathy in messages to Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, the acting president of Namibia.

Hage Geingob, a prominent figure in Namibia’s struggle for independence and its first prime minister after gaining independence, passed away on Sunday. Geingob, who was in his second term as president, had revealed his battle with cancer just last month. Notably, he supported South Africa’s complaint against Israel under the Genocide Convention and criticized Germany, Namibia’s former colonial ruler, for opposing the case.
