The UAE Breaks the Record for the Most People to Sign Up as Organ Donors in a Single Hour.

In just one hour, the United Arab Emirates(UAE) created a new global record for the most online registrations for organ donation. On January 31, more than 4,000 locals registered for Hayat on Wednesday.

The National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues, known as Hayat (meaning “life” in Arabic), was founded in September 2020 and is overseen by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).

21,357 residents of the United Arab Emirates of different nationalities registered on Hayat before the commencement of the online drive. A new global record for online donor registration was set when 4,010 more donors signed up within an hour, bringing the total to 25,367 by Wednesday afternoon.

“Hayat is a program for everybody for everybody,” Dr. Ali Abdulkarim Al Obaidli, chairman of Hayat, said to the Khaleej Times. It serves as a sign of community solidarity that you are there for everyone, even those who are facing organ failure.
