Muslims and Arab Groups Applaud the Preliminary Verdict on Israel By the World Court.

Muslims and Arab groups applaud the preliminary verdict on Israel by the World Court.

Riyadh: The International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) preliminary verdict, which delivered a resounding indictment of Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, was warmly received by Arab and international Muslim organizations. The ICJ is a Hague-based court.

The majority of the 17-member ICJ panel ordered that Israel work to minimize the number of people killed and the amount of damage caused by its military attack, even if they refrained from ordering Israel to cease its operation—a request made by South Africa in the case it filed.

The ruling of the International Court of Justice aligns with global legal frameworks and agreements concerning the safeguarding of defenseless civilians, as stated in a statement by Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammad Albudaiwi.

By attacking civilian institutions and hospitals, Israel breached the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, according to Albudaiwi, resulting in the deaths and injuries of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.
