Kuwait establishes its first administration with a new prime minister and emir.

Kuwait established its first cabinet following the passing of its former ruler on Wednesday, according to the official news agency. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah will lead the new administration.

Anwar Ali Al Mudhaf was named finance minister, Abdullah Ali Al Yahya was named foreign minister, and Emad Mohammed Al Atiqi was named oil minister for the OPEC producer.

After Sheikh Nawaf passed away in December, Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Sabah became the next Emir of Kuwait. He is anticipated to uphold Kuwait’s foreign policies, which include backing Gulf Arab unity, Western alliances, and strong links to Riyadh, which are considered a top priorities.

Long-standing tensions between the ruling family and its detractors in the impasse-ridden and divisive parliament, which opponents claim have impeded fiscal and economic change, will be complex for Kuwait to resolve.

The nation’s legislative has greater power than legislatures in other Gulf monarchies, and the political impasse has resulted in cabinet changes and parliament dissolutions for many years.
