AMMAN: On Wednesday, Hamad Rashid Al-Marri, the ambassador of Kuwait to Jordan, met with Ahmed Safadi, the speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Jordanian parliament, to discuss the relationship between the two legislatures.
Following the passing of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the emir of Kuwait, in December, Safadi expressed his sympathies to the people of Kuwait.
He and Al-Marri stressed the importance of working together through consultation and constructive communication to advance their nations’ shared interests and fortify their relationship under the direction of Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the next emir of Kuwait, and King Abdullah of Jordan.
Safadi emphasized that Jordan will continue to be a defender of justice and Palestinian rights and stated that through their policies, the two nations seek to serve the interests of Arab countries and the issues that concern them, the most significant of which is the Palestinian struggle.
He continued by saying that all Jordanians agree that Hashemite authority over the Christian and Islamic holy places in Jerusalem is appropriate.
In a separate discussion, Safadi met with Sheri Ritsema-Anderson, the UN resident coordinator in Jordan, and they emphasized the importance of upholding human rights as well as the fundamental ideas and principles of international law without bias.
