A 27-year-old guy was trapped locked securely inside his crushed pickup vehicle beneath a highway overpass in northwest Indiana, and he lived for six days on just rainwater, according to authorities.

His misery came to an end on Tuesday afternoon when two men searching for potential fishing places discovered the severely wrecked truck with its white airbag deployed and reached inside.

The individual turned to face them and began speaking after they made contact with their body. Thus, that made them a little agitated,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Glen Fifield told regional media.

According to Fifield at a press conference, the vehicle left Interstate 94 before of a bridge over Salt Creek, missed the railing, and probably rolled multiple times before landing on the opposite side of the creek and out of view from the road above.

Under the intense light of floodlights on Tuesday night, first responders extricated Matthew R. Reum of Mishawaka, Indiana, from the debris. He was subsequently taken to a South Bend hospital, where he was diagnosed with critical injuries, according to Fifield.
