The central government of India has recommended that state governments implement suitable health measures following a recent surge in Covid cases and the identification of the JN.1 subvariant in Kerala.
In light of the upcoming festive season, it is essential to implement necessary public health measures and make other arrangements to reduce the risk of increased disease transmission. The advice emphasizes the importance of adhering to respiratory hygiene practices to minimize the spread of the virus.
The central government has directed the implementation of district-wise monitoring of respiratory disease occurrences.
The directive emphasizes the importance of regularly monitoring and reporting cases of influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory illness in all health facilities on a district-by-district basis. This information should be consistently updated on the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) portal to detect early trends in rising cases.
It further stated, “Raise community awareness in order to ask for their ongoing assistance in managing COVID-19, including adherence to respiratory hygiene.”
