TOKYO: On December 18, in Tokyo, Bandar AlKhorayef, the Minister of Saudi Industry and Mineral Resources, took part in an Arab News Japan Fireside talk.
Speaking with Faisal J. Abbas, Editor in Chief of Arab News, at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan (FCCJ), the venue of the inaugural launch of Arab News Japan four years ago, AlKhorayef began by outlining the changes Saudi Arabia has undergone recently and outlining the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which he claims is one of the main reasons he is in Tokyo.
The main goals of the visit are to inform our Japanese partners about what we are doing in Saudi Arabia, pique their curiosity, and show them how they may get involved.
From the mining perspective, it is evident that there will be a growing demand and stress on minerals. Additionally, he said, “We established The Future Minerals Forum, an annual forum held in Saudi Arabia, for nations seeking to ensure their supply of various minerals.
Saudi Arabia is still “under explored,” according to AlKhorayef, although the country’s mineral resources are estimated to be worth $1.3 trillion as of right now. The minerals include fertilizers, zinc, aluminum, and phosphates; the numbers will be revised in January.
