Abu Dhabi marked the debut of the first smart taxi powered by hydrogen.

KhaleejTimes

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi will soon have its first smart taxi experience driven by green hydrogen. Leading transportation provider Tawasul Transport is partnering with Adnoc, Al Futtaim Motors, and the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) to develop this innovative sustainable urban mobility program.

The operational data, which will include kilometers driven, green hydrogen consumption, operating hours, and clean refueling processes, will be provided by Tawasul Transport and Al Futtaim Motors. Transparency in data-driven decision-making can boost operational effectiveness and hasten the incorporation of creative and sustainable transportation solutions.

With its all-electric driving experience, best-in-class efficiency, and zero emissions, the new Toyota Mirai powered by hydrogen demonstrates Toyota’s dedication to reaching carbon neutrality and establishing sustainable mobility for everybody.

The first high-speed green hydrogen pilot refueling station in the region, run by Adnoc Distribution and situated in Masdar City, will serve as the fueling station for the hydrogen-powered taxi.

The companies work together to maximize the use of green-hydrogen-powered taxis, a key indicator of their shared commitment to attaining high energy efficiency and a sustainable transportation sector in Abu Dhabi.

“Embracing a green-hydrogen-powered future, not only signifies a commitment to eco-friendly transportation but also paves the way for a cleaner, greener tomorrow,” stated Ghena Jbour, General Manager of Tawasul Transport.
