UAE immunization requirements for children: an explanation of expenses and injection schedule

It would be a good idea to review your child’s vaccination records as the new year draws near in approximately a month to see if there are any vaccinations that still need to be completed.

The days of parents anxiously looking through health record books before a doctor’s appointment are long gone, thanks to the Al Hosn app’s latest feature that stores required vaccination data from the time of birth until the age of 18.

Immunizations have become much easier to administer thanks to the streamlined process, but it’s still crucial to know which shots the kids need and when.

Here is a chronology of the immunizations that children in the United Arab Emirates are required to receive, ranging from jabs given shortly after birth to ones your child may not receive until they start school.

After birth

Newborns in the United Arab Emirates receive international standard health examinations shortly after delivery. These screen newborns for forty hereditary illnesses. Infants receive two vaccinations that are required in addition to the screening. These are the following:

BCG: Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (tuberculosis prevention)

Hep B: Hepatitis B, which protects against Hepatitis B infection in children even into adulthood by establishing long-term immunity.
