When it rains a lot, inhabitants of Dubai use kayaks and paddle boards to avoid flooded roads.

For some Dubai residents, it pours happiness when it rains, especially those who find a bright spot on an otherwise dismal day.

On Friday, videos of locals transforming sandy areas and flooded small streets into ponds for kayaking and paddle boarding went viral.

Dr. Dalia Hisham Kokash recorded and uploaded one video. As she made her way to work, she noted that cars were buried in water and that a neighbor at Arabian Ranches 2 was contentedly kayaking despite the entire stretch of Al Deem Street being inundated.

With over 15,000 Instagram followers, Dr. Dalia is a dentist who told Khaleej Times, “It was fun; that guy actually made my day.”

Nothing, not even the rain or the flood, can prevent me from going to work since I’m a doctor. And my neighbor, that person, embodied the true meaning of “don’t let anything stop you from chasing your happiness.”

On a wet day, Mustafa Rafic Dafer, a resident of Dubai, took his red kayak out into the street and grinned broadly while spreading some good feelings.
