In the largest transaction to date at the Dubai Airshow, Emirates airlines revealed on Monday that it had placed a $52 billion order for 95 Boeing aircraft.
A current order for 30 787 Dreamliners is upgraded to 35 together with the purchase of 55 Boeing 777-9s and 35 777-8s.
“Dubai’s dedication to the aviation industry is demonstrated by this order, which is a substantial investment,” Emirates CEO Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated during a news conference.
Budget airline Flydubai also revealed that it had placed an order for thirty Boeing 787-9s. Emirates now has 295 aircraft on order, including 205 777X models, thanks to the most recent agreement. Also, the largest airline in the Middle East placed an order for 202 GE9X engines to power its 777X aircraft. According to Sheikh Ahmed, the 777-9s should be delivered in 2025, and the 777-8s should arrive in 2030.
Additionally, at the Dubai Airshow on Monday, Boeing said that budget airline SunExpress has placed an order with Boeing for 45 737 MAX aircraft. Meanwhile, rumors that Turkish Airlines is set to book roughly 350 aircraft are causing speculation.
A record-breaking week of sales would highlight the industry’s comeback from the Covid epidemic, which devastated the business by stopping all overseas travel.
