UAE strongly denies Israeli assault on Gaza camp

An Egyptian official at the Rafah gate stated on Wednesday that 335 foreigners or dual nationalities and 76 wounded Palestinians were permitted to enter Egypt from the war-torn Gaza Strip.

Since Israel imposed a “total siege” on the Palestinian enclave following Hamas’s deadly attack on October 7, this is the first time that civilians from Gaza have been permitted to pass into Egypt.

When AFP called the official in Ismailia at 4:30 pm (1430 GMT), he said that ambulances had brought 76 injured Palestinians into Egypt and that six busses had taken 335 foreign passport holders.

On Wednesday, the Egyptian authorities had said that they would permit the crossing of some 545 foreign nationals and 90 wounded Palestinians.

Before obtaining medical attention in Egypt, an injured guy is lying inside an ambulance at the Rafah border crossing in the southern Gaza Strip.

After Egypt opened the Rafah crossing for the first time since the Israel-Hamas conflict started on October 7, a large number of foreign passport holders began to leave the war-torn Gaza on Wednesday, according to AFP correspondents.

Passport holders from 44 nations and 28 agencies, including UN bodies, are reportedly residing in the Gaza Strip, where 2.4 million Palestinians have been subjected to over three weeks of ceaseless Israeli bombardment in retaliation for the Hamas onslaught on October 7, according to foreign governments.
