The bond between the UAE and Turkey is growing, and it’s not just in the business world. Now, it’s hitting the greens – particularly in the world of golf, a sport both nations are passionate about. Just last month, golf enthusiasts and celebs swung their clubs at the Everose Cup 2023 in the beautiful Bodrum, Turkey. This three-day golf extravaganza was the brainchild of Gregory Mathieu from Everose Properties, a chic investment firm out of Dubai.
Kicking off on August 18 and wrapping up on August 20, the event had all the glitz and glam, finishing with a lavish awards night. It wasn’t just your average golf tournament; we’re talking five different categories, including special awards for feats like the longest drive and getting the ball nearest to the pin. After two days of tallying points, it was Hüseyin Demirağ who stole the show, bagging the title of Gross Winner.
But he wasn’t the only big name there. Fikret Öztürk, the big boss of OPET Petroleum in Turkey, joined Gregory and Neslihan Mathieu to cheer on the champs. And get this, the former Turkish foreign affairs minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, didn’t just come to watch – he won the longest drive award!
As the night came to an end, Mathieu shared, “Huge thanks to all the golf fanatics who joined us for a weekend of friendly competition and fun. It was a blast bringing together our pals from the UAE and Turkey. Can’t wait for next year – we’ve got big plans, and hope to see all you golf lovers again!”
