Job Loss Insurance Scheme

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation added two new classes consisting of expanding the number of categories of employees who can subscribe to the job loss scheme of the UAE.

Employees working in the free zones and semi-government entities can also register for the involuntary loss of employment scheme presented by the MoHRE.

From January 1, 2023, the Ministry made it compulsory for private and federal government employees to subscribe to job loss insurance.

However, failure to subscribe by June 30 will result in a penalty of Dh400 to employees. Besides, a fine of Dh200 will be assessed for failing to pay premiums for more than three months from the due date.

Moreover, under the ILoE insurance scheme, employees with a primary salary of less than Dh16,000 are instructed to pay Dh5 per month or Dh60 per annum plus VAT as a premium. They will be repaid with 60 percent of the average basic salary for the job loss for three consecutive months. At the same time, employees with a basic salary of around Dh16,000 must pay Dh10 a month or Dh120 annual premiums under this scheme.

Although the policy period is functional for one or two years, subscriptions can be made from Dubai Insurance, the ILOE website, Al Ansari Exchange, and ATMs.

Earlier, The Ministry said in April the number of subscribers exceeded one million after its launch in January 2023.

A notice published on the ILOE website revealed that people wiring in semi-government entities or companies registered in a UAE free zone subscribe by processing to the ” Non- registered in MoHRE” link on the ILoE outlet.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Anwar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, called on employees qualified to subscribe to the scheme to benefit from coverage and on employers to encourage their employees to subscribe.
