For hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists who treat Global Village as an annual ritual, the countdown has officially begun. Dubai’s sprawling outdoor entertainment destination is preparing to reopen its gates for its 31st season, with organisers pointing to mid-October 2026 as the most likely return date.
While an exact opening day has not yet been confirmed, the attraction’s own website indicates an October launch, in keeping with its long-standing seasonal pattern. Based on precedent — Season 30 opened on October 15, 2025 — visitors can reasonably expect a similar mid-month debut this year.
Why Global Village Closes Every Summer
Global Village’s rhythm is dictated by the UAE’s climate. With the vast majority of the site’s pavilions, food stalls and rides situated outdoors, the punishing summer heat makes normal operations impractical for several months each year. The closure period also gives organisers valuable time to carry out maintenance work, refresh existing pavilions and prepare new attractions and entertainment concepts ahead of the next season.
This year’s closure period followed an unusually eventful season. Global Village had to temporarily shut its doors earlier in 2026 amid regional uncertainty linked to the broader conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran, a rare disruption for an attraction that typically runs on a predictable seasonal calendar. It reopened on April 20, 2026, once regional conditions stabilised, before eventually concluding its 30th season on May 31 — later than originally planned.
A Milestone Season Extended
Season 30 itself carried special significance, marking three decades since Global Village first welcomed visitors in 1997. Fernando Eiroa, chief executive of Dubai Holding Entertainment, described the milestone as a reflection of “three decades of growth, evolution and shared success,” crediting the dedication of teams and partners alongside the continued trust of guests.
Rather than closing on its originally scheduled date in early May, organisers extended the season by roughly three weeks to allow visitors to celebrate Eid Al Adha at the attraction — complete with shopping promotions, live entertainment and extended operating hours running until 1am on weekend nights.
What Season 31 Is Expected to Bring
While full details of Season 31’s programming have yet to be released, past seasons offer a reliable blueprint of what guests can anticipate. Global Village typically showcases more than 90 pavilions representing regions including the Middle East and North Africa, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and South Asia, each offering distinct food, retail and cultural experiences.
Visitors regularly return for the destination’s themed entertainment, including live stage performances, fireworks displays, seasonal parades and the ever-popular Carnaval amusement rides. Past seasons have also introduced refreshed dining concepts and expanded exhibition spaces within individual pavilions, and Season 31 is expected to continue that trend of incremental renewal alongside its returning favourites.
Once launched, the new season is expected to run through the cooler months, extending into spring 2027, mirroring the typical multi-month operating window the attraction has followed for years.
A Barometer for Dubai’s Winter Tourism Season
Global Village’s reopening is closely watched not just by residents planning their weekend outings, but by the wider tourism and hospitality sector, for which the attraction serves as an informal signal that Dubai’s high season is underway.
