In a rapidly evolving real estate landscape, few companies manage to strike the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. Tashyid, formerly known as Mehyou Properties, has achieved precisely that—rooted in over five decades of generational expertise while boldly expanding into new horizons across the UAE, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Greece. At its helm is Chairman Raja Al Mehyou, whose vision is redefining how communities are built, blending cultural elegance with modern sophistication. In this exclusive interview with The Emirates Times, Mr. Al Mehyou shares the story behind Tashyid’s rebranding, its ambitious global expansion, and the enduring legacy that guides its journey.
Mr. Al Mehyou, Tashyid is becoming a recognized name in the real estate and development industry. Can you tell us about the vision behind Tashyid and what it stands for?
Our vision for Tashyid is to grow into a truly global player, powered by a team of diverse and highly skilled professionals. The decision to rebrand from Mehyou Properties was very intentional. We wanted to evolve from a family-associated identity into a brand that represents a broader community of real estate experts under one umbrella. Tashyid stands for collaboration, innovation, and unity, where expertise meets creativity. At the same time, we carry an Arabic touch in our DNA, and our mission is to translate that cultural elegance into projects that are both modern and fascinating, leaving a lasting mark in every market we enter.
The UAE real estate market has been experiencing record-breaking sales and rapid growth. How does Tashyid position itself within this booming sector?
Tashyid, formerly Mehyou Properties, has been present in the UAE since the early days of the market’s boom, and we’ve witnessed its incredible evolution firsthand. The UAE continues to achieve record-breaking results. 2024 alone saw hundreds of billions of dirhams in real estate transactions, with the UAE consistently ranking among the top global property destinations. Through our subsidiary Compass Real Estate, which operates under the Tashyid umbrella, we specialize in sales, resales, and bulk deals while working closely with some of the country’s most prominent developers on their signature projects. This positions us not just as participants, but as active contributors to the sector’s growth. We are also preparing a major development project under the Tashyid brand in Ras Al Khaimah, with a pre-launch expected in 2026—something we believe will be a landmark for us and for the market there.
Tashyid currently has projects in Cyprus and is expanding further. Could you share more about your current developments and what lies ahead?
Cyprus is a very exciting market for us. We are leading several projects there that blend luxury, functionality, and sustainability. Cyprus is a Mediterranean hub with significant potential, and Tashyid’s developments there are already making a mark. We are preparing to announce a series of construction projects in Cyprus that include an apartment community, a beach townhouses project, and a UAE-style tower overlooking the sea. These projects will be completed alongside the signature standalone buildings we are already building. Our interest in Cyprus is due to its market, which is becoming increasingly attractive with its tourism and investment growth in addition to its expected inclusion in the Schengen area in 2026, which will attract more non-European investors. Finally, Cyprus’s low taxation is an added advantage for prospective buyers.
Tashyid has roots in Lebanon. Do you have plans to relaunch there in the near future?
Lebanon is a very special market for us, because of our history in Lebanon and the success we had in this beautiful country, as well as the Lebanese diaspora who consistently seek to invest and own property back home. The real estate sector there has begun to show signs of recovery and is slowly blossoming again. Even before the economic crisis, we had identified key areas for development, and we still hold those locations in our plans. However, we do not intend to relaunch in Lebanon this year. Our strategy is to wait for greater political clarity, and we have set 2026 as the target year to bring forward our projects in Lebanon, depending on how the overall situation develops.
Beyond your current projects, what can you share about Tashyid’s future plans in Greece?
I cannot reveal too much at this stage, as our company is still in the process of being formally established in Greece. However, what I can share is that our first project there is already secured. The details will be announced at the right time.
Rebranding is a significant step. Why did Mehyou Properties evolve into Tashyid, and what does this new identity represent?
Mehyou Properties carried with it decades of history and success, but we wanted a brand that could expand beyond our family name while still honoring our roots. Tashyid means “construction” or “building up” in Arabic, and that’s exactly what we do. We build lives, communities, and futures. The new identity reflects modernity, elegance, and an international outlook, while still staying true to our origins. It’s a generational transition, where the legacy of over half a century continues but with a refreshed vision for the decades ahead.
Finally, as Chairman, how do you see the future of Tashyid unfolding?
The future is incredibly promising. With multiple projects already in the works and more to come, Tashyid is on a trajectory of sustainable growth. We will continue expanding across strategic markets, always guided by our heritage and driven by innovation. For me personally, this is more than business; it’s legacy. It’s about carrying forward over 55 years of history into the next 55 and beyond, with Tashyid as the symbol of resilience, quality, and elegance. At the same time, we have a clear vision to become a real estate powerhouse with a chain of international developments across the Middle East and Europe by 2030. This is a time for hard work and expansion, and we are actively looking to forge more partnerships to bring forward signature projects in the years ahead. All I can say is to stay tuned. Tashyid is developing the future.
Tashyid’s journey is one of legacy, reinvention, and ambition. Under the leadership of Chairman Raja Al Mehyou, the company is not only carrying forward a family tradition but also shaping the future of real estate across continents. With its blend of cultural heritage, innovation, and international vision, Tashyid is poised to leave an indelible mark on the industry. As the company expands into new markets, one thing remains clear—Tashyid is not just building properties, it is building a legacy of trust, excellence, and community.
