As Schools Prepare to Reopen in Abu Dhabi, More than 6,000 Buses will Carry 181,000 Students

According to Amer Juma Al Shehi, Director of School Operations at Emirates Transport in Abu Dhabi, up to 6,010 school buses will be used exclusively to transport 181,000 students.

Al Shehi announced that Emirates Transport has finished preparing to provide school transport for the upcoming academic year 2024–2025. He also mentioned that 4,960 drivers and 5,960 bus supervisors have been hired after successfully completing awareness and training programs.

According to Al Shehi, Emirates Transport uses a sophisticated system to guarantee the pupils’ security in the buses.

He added that the software on the tablets has been updated, which helps get students ready in the morning, get them to school, prepare them for departure, and drop them off at their homes. He described how the smart systems in the buses have been improved to ensure the safety of the students.

Al Shehi claims that the smart system also tracks the number of students each day based on attendance records and contacts parents to find out why their children are absent from school. To guarantee the security of the students on the bus, Al Shehi mentioned that additional tracking devices are connected to the operations room.

It is reported that the student’s time on the bus will be tracked, along with the driver’s speed and directions, to ensure that the student spends no more than 60 minutes travelling from school to home.
