Emirates Flights: Do Some Students Skip the First Week of Class to Save Money on Increasing Airfares?

Some schools in the United Arab Emirates will reopen on Monday, August 26, 2024, following a two-month break. Principals in the United Arab Emirates have pointed out that in the first week following the summer break, some schools usually have between 15 and 25 percent of students absent.

When the back-to-school season begins in late August, airfare prices typically double, so expatriates arriving during this time of year often save money on their travels.Shining Star International School Principal Abhilasha Singh stated, “High absenteeism in the first week of the school reopening is very peculiar to UAE.” I’m speaking especially from the perspective of an Indian curriculum school. The primary cause is the high price of the tickets.

Parents are informed of the school attendance policy and may face repercussions if their child arrives late. Latecomers are required to meet with their assigned senior leadership team.

It is the parent’s obligation to make up some of the lost days. Our attendance started to decline during the first week. The price of fares ought to be restricted in some way. It’s unjust to those with low and middle incomes who wish to travel home but cannot do so because of expensive airfares, which can have a big financial impact,” she continued.
