UAE: Two Locations will begin Accepting Japan e-Visas on September 1

Travellers from the UAE who meet the requirements for an e-visa to Japan can apply through VFS Global starting on September 1. Applications are accepted at The Mall in Abu Dhabi and Wafi Mall in Dubai.

VFS Global and the Japanese embassies in the United Arab Emirates opened the visa application centres at both locations on Thursday. Online appointments are available at no additional cost for short—and long-term visas. In addition to the visa fees, all applicants must pay a Dh100 service fee at the centres.

As reported by Khaleej Times, some UAE residents were unable to use the e-visa service in April. Application processing was done through the consulate. Now, though, the missions will not be directly accepting applications.

In order to handle the “ever-increasing number of visa applications,” Japanese missions in the United Arab Emirates have teamed up with VFS Global, according to Consul General of Japan to Dubai Imanishi Jun.

“We hope that this centre will serve as a base for promoting people-to-people exchanges between Japan, the UAE, and Dubai and further develop bilateral relations between our two countries. We also hope that those who wish to travel to Japan will benefit from more convenient and faster visa services.
