Over the Past Seven Years, an Emirati Explorer Has Travelled 5,000 Miles on Horseback

In the last seven years, Tariq Ibrahim Al Salman, an explorer and adventurer from the United Arab Emirates, has covered over 5,000 km on horseback. Over the previous few decades, he has taken exploratory and adventure expeditions to 72 countries worldwide.

“The sense of exploration, passion for adventure, and love of horses led him to embark on his travels in a large number of countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America,” according to him.

He added that as part of his most recent journey, he travelled to Africa, spending eight days in Botswana leading a group of eight adventurers from the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Britain, Spain, Poland, France, and Germany.

Our most recent journey, which we just got back from a few days ago, involved 170 kilometres of horseback riding. We took a small plane from Dubai to Johannesburg, South Africa, and then to Botswana,” he said.

According to Al Salman, he visited 72 countries, including many of the top horse-riding destinations in the world, including the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, America, Mauritius, Romania, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Botswana, Spain, Britain, India, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, South Africa, Peru, Bolivia, Jordan, and Georgia.

The variety of landscapes that Al Salman saw during his travels—forests, mountains, plains, coastlines, etc.—was among their most fascinating features.
