UAE Contributes $8 Million to WHO to Support Humanitarian Relief Efforts in Sudan.

Signed at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, this agreement will provide funding for important health projects in Sudan that will help improve the terrible living conditions of the country’s people.

The agreement between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and WHO was formalised in the presence of Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs at the WHO headquarters in Geneva. Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed on behalf of the UAE, and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, signed on behalf of WHO.

This contribution supports WHO’s efforts to deliver vital healthcare services in areas affected by conflict and is a part of the UAE’s more significant commitment to global humanitarian relief.

The funds will specifically go towards programmes that prevent disease, emergency response capabilities, and healthcare infrastructure.

“We think it is crucial to support the World Health Organisation’s ongoing mission in Sudan because the work they do there saves lives daily,” said Lana Zaki Nusseibeh.

“People in crises throughout the region have benefited from the long-standing partnership between the UAE and the WHO. We are determined to support the Sudanese people.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted: “The World Health Organisation will continue to support the urgent health needs of the people of Sudan and the refugees in neighboring countries with support from partners and donors.” We appreciate the UAE’s kind commitment. We must cooperate to preserve the lives of the.
