The Honorable Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, visited the “Above the Clouds” project on Thursday. The project is 850 meters above sea level on Kalba city’s Al Deem Mountain. The Sharjah ruler oversaw the construction of the crescent-shaped retreat, which spans 4,700 square meters.
There will be a restaurant, an open café, and a reading area on the first floor of the retreat. On the ground floor, there will be a multipurpose hall, a prayer room, restrooms, multiple viewing platforms, a theater, green spaces, and playgrounds for kids.
Because of its exceptional location, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city’s coastline and the surrounding mountain valleys. It is also a significant cultural and social landmark. Sheikh Sultan also reviewed the plans for the road network, including two 10-kilometer roads and two bridges, to support the new projects.
Three lanes for vehicles with high safety standards facilitate access for buses and heavy vehicles. One road leads to the mountain peak and development projects, while the other connects the Wadi Al Helo Tunnel to the new Sharjah-Kalba Road.
He was also briefed on designing an international stadium project that would serve Kalba Sports and Cultural Club on about 50,000 square meters of land on Mount Daym, by FIFA standards.
Perched 650 meters above sea level, the stadium will include VIP platforms, media rooms, commercial services, health facilities, and terraced seating with an open view of Kalba city.
