The Foreign Ministers of The UAE and Jordan Denounce Israeli Incursions Into Al Aqsa Mosque

The ongoing Israeli incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque were denounced on Wednesday by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, and Ayman Al Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In a phone conversation, the two ministers condemned the Israeli government’s approval of the ‘Flag March’ in occupied Jerusalem, as well as the aggression against Palestinians that went along with it, racist acts, and limitations placed on worshippers’ access to the Al Aqsa Mosque and their freedom of movement within the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.

The two high-ranking diplomats emphasized that Israel must honor its legal commitments and cease its unlawful actions, which are undermining the prospects of a fair, long-lasting, and all-encompassing peace based on the two-state solution.

The two ministers emphasized the need for Israel to respect the historical and legal status quo of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, affirming that the Al Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunams, holds a unique and profound spiritual significance for Muslims.

Sheikh Abdullah praised the Kingdom’s role in preserving the identity of the Arab Islamic and Christian holy sites and emphasized the significance of the Hashemite custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
