Dubai: Visit Visa Holders are Instructed to Carry Dh3,000 in Cash or Credit, Return Tickets, and Proof of Stay

Before flying to Dubai, visitors with visit visas are advised to bring Dh3,000 cash, a valid return ticket, and proof of accommodation, according to tourism agencies.

Experts say authorities are ensuring that these entry guidelines are followed. Some passengers who did not meet the requirements reported being stopped at Indian airports and denied boarding their flights. Others reported being stranded at Dubai’s airports.

“People travelling to Dubai must have a valid visa and a passport with a minimum validity of six months. One must have a confirmed return ticket. These are checks that were performed previously’, stated Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels.

“However, checks are now being conducted to ensure that you have enough money as proof of funds to cover your stay in Dubai. The amount is any currency worth Dh3,000 in cash or credit card. One must provide a valid address proof of accommodation in the UAE; this can be a relative’s or friend’s home or a hotel reservation,” Firoz added.

Travel agents stated that while this rule has been in place for a long time, authorities have recently tightened monitoring for the benefit of travellers.

“Airport checks are being conducted to protect travellers arriving in Dubai. There have been numerous cases of overstaying. This step by the authorities will have a positive impact on the emirate’s tourism sector,” said Libin Varghese of Rooh Travel and Tourism.
