UAE weather LIVE: Road Decreases in RAK after Heavy Rain

The UAE issued an orange alert on Thursday due to heavy rains and thunderstorms. While many residents did not have to leave their homes for work today, some awoke early to heavy rain and strong winds. Dark rain clouds hung over the mountains in the north, where waterfalls gushed out.

The UAE has spent the last few days preparing for this wave of unpredictable weather, which is expected to peak today, May 2, and last until tomorrow, May 3. Safety advisories have been issued in all sectors. Schools focus on distance learning, while businesses are encouraged to allow employees to work from home. Parks and beaches have been closed. Airports and airlines are also bracing for the impact.

Residents taking driving lessons in Dubai have been informed that “all tests, lectures and training, and RTA tests” have been cancelled today. Drive Dubai students were among those who received a message. As weather conditions improve nationwide, only a few areas remain on the NCM’s orange alert.

In its most recent advisory, the Met Department depicts how the convective clouds that hovered over the country have shrunk in a graph. The alert level has been reduced to yellow in most areas.
