UAE: As Citizens Return from their Eid Vacations Next Week, Rain and Thunderstorms are Predicted

With gloomy skies and sporadic rain in certain regions, UAE residents are now taking advantage of the most extended break of the year and relishing in the nine-day Eid Al Fitr celebrations.

Employees in the public and private sectors will return “back to work” on Monday when the holiday ends on April 14. Nevertheless, inclement weather is expected to impact Abu Dhabi and Dubai during the upcoming week, according to the weather forecast.

Monday’s weather is predicted to be a mixed bag, with sunshine breaking through the clouds in the morning. But by the afternoon, locals had to prepare for thunderstorms to arrive.

The temperature will rise to a comfortable 31°C during the day. With a greater likelihood of precipitation, thunderstorms are expected to form as the day wears on into the evening. According to Weather.com, the probability of rain increases to 80% at night, signaling a solid potential for thunderstorms.

The National Centre of Meteorology’s (NCM) Dr. Ahmed Habib, a specialist in climate change, had stated to Khaleej Times that “the region experiences the passage of extensions of low-pressure systems at both upper and surface levels, moving from west to east.”

These circumstances can involve troughs coming from the east or other expansions. Should these depressions deepen, certain areas may experience increased cloud cover, raising the possibility of precipitation.
