UAE: Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah Offers Low-Income Patients Free Surgery

On Ramadan 19, Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah offered some complimentary procedures to low-income people in observance of Zayed Humanitarian Day.

In honor of the nation’s founder, the hospital’s orthopedic and surgical departments performed the free procedures under the auspices of Emirates Health Services (EHS).

Two of the surgeries were for the excision of a colon tumor in a 70-year-old Asian patient and surgical treatment for a 25-year-old Asian patient who had come to Kuwait Hospital’s emergency room after suffering an open fracture to his left leg in an accident. He had surgery to use a metal brace to stabilize the open fracture.

The director of Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, Afra Salem, emphasized that the hospital’s involvement in Zayed Humanitarian Day strengthens its commitment to upholding Zayed’s tradition of kindness and helping the underprivileged. This demonstrates the hospital’s dedication to the humanitarian partnership, considered an authentic legacy in Emirati culture. She emphasized that performing surgery for disadvantaged people and interacting with patients are fundamental humanitarian principles critical to improving communities. These deeds exemplify how to successfully reflect humanity into society, fostering nation-building and enhancing the UAE’s standing on a regional and international level.
