Dubai's Flying Taxi: Joby will Begin Operations in the UAE Before the US

The US-based company will run air taxis in Dubai for six years. It builds all-electric aircraft for commercial passenger transportation.

Before the emirate’s service launch, the flying carmaker received financial help from the Dubai government.

“We have finalized an agreement with the Dubai government that gives Joby the sole authority to run air taxis within the Emirate for six years.” In its financial statement, the company stated that the deal “identifies a regulatory pathway to enable early operations” and provides financial support.

Through the agreement, the RTA provides a range of support, including financial tools, for establishing and developing service activities in Dubai.

The president of Joby Aviation, Bonny Simi, stated in a Bloomberg interview that the US will not be the first nation to use the company’s air taxi—Dubai will come first.
