The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a change in weather rain conditions as a developing upper-air trough brings sporadic showers and high winds beginning this Sunday.
In an alert issued tonight, NCM predicts an increase in cloud cover with light to moderate rainfall. There is a potential for more substantial downpours with lightning and thunder, resulting in a significant drop in temperatures.
While the rain is predicted to subside by Tuesday evening, the report cautioned of potential hazards.
Strong winds are also expected, shifting from south-easterly to north-easterly and finally northwesterly. These winds, characterized as moderate to fresh with the potential for powerful gusts, might generate blowing dust and sandstorms, significantly decreasing road visibility.
The impact will also be felt at sea, with mild to moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf that may become rough to very strong at times, especially during periods of heavy cloud cover. The Oman Sea should also expect rough seas, particularly in places with convective clouds.
