McDonald’s Asian Stores are Experiencing System Difficulties.

McDonald's Asian Stores are Experiencing System Difficulties.

Following a system failure on Friday, hungry McDonald’s customers in parts of Asia had difficulty ordering in stores, via telephone, and at electronic kiosks.
McDonald’s system issues were reported worldwide earlier on Friday, closing some stores for hours and prompting customer complaints on social media, in what the fast food business described as a “technology outage” that was being resolved.

McDonald’s Corp., located in Chicago, claimed the issues were not caused by a cybersecurity assault, but did not provide any other information.

Earlier, McDonald’s in Japan said on X, formerly Twitter, that “operations are temporarily out at many of our stores nationwide,” citing “a system failure.” In Hong Kong, the company said on Facebook that a “computer system failure” had resulted in the cancellation of orders placed online and at self-service kiosks.

China was also disrupted for several hours, with the outage becoming a popular subject on social media platform Weibo, however the company later said that its online purchasing system had been fully restored. Downdetector, an outage tracker, has observed increased issues with the McDonald’s app in the last few hours.
