8.3 Million Passengers will Arrive at Sharjah Airport in H1 2024, Representing a 12.4% Increase

In the context of maintaining its leadership and competitiveness through improving operational performance and offering services that meet the highest international standards, Sharjah Airport saw a 12.4% increase in total passengers in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period the previous year.

Over the last six months, it has welcomed over 8.3 million passengers, and 52,702 flight movements during that period have resulted in a growth in aviation activity of 12.2 percent. Furthermore, Sharjah Airport recorded a notable increase in cargo handling operations, reaching 40.7% with 97.2 thousand tonnes handled overall. In the meantime, operations for sea-air cargo rose by 17.5%, totaling 7,4 thousand tonnes.

According to Ali Salim Al Midfa, Sharjah Airport is a vibrant and useful entry point that boosts business, tourism, and economic activity. It also draws investments to the Emirate of Sharjah and links it to commercial markets, industrial and economic zones, and other areas. This is accomplished by increasing international aviation movements’ frequency and developing the airport’s connectivity networks.

With the help of 26 airlines, Sharjah Airport now handles over 100 international destinations, including air cargo flights. Air Arabia has added Greece and Poland to its list of destinations.
