A part of Dubai’s famous Al Mulla Plaza collapsed on Saturday night, with two people facing minor injuries. Initial investigations revealed that “improper storage of heavy materials” caused the incident. The building has retail outlets and an apartment block above them, which were not affected by the incident, and the residents were allowed to go to their homes.
The Government of Dubai Media Office said on Sunday, by quoting the police, that the authorities took “swift action to manage the situation arising from the collapse of a small part of Al Mulla Plaza last night.” “The incident, caused by the improper storage of heavy materials, led to minor injuries to two people. Government departments responded rapidly to ensure the safety of everyone, including workers and visitors.”
MS, an Indian resident, said, “ We came to know about the incident yesterday evening when we returned home and saw the front side of the building was cordoned off. But everyone is calm and going about their routines.”
The swift response from the team and the authorities ensured the safety of all workers and visitors at the site. The shops closed soon after the incident, and the authorities asked the visitors to come after a few days.
